22/03/2012 – Team Ebimotors led by Enrico Borghi is about to be back in the Italian GT Championship. The squad from Cermenate, that made its last appearance in the GT Championship in 2005 will line up one Porsche 911 GT3R in CT3 class for the lineup made by Alessandro Balzan and Giacomo Barri.

It is going to be a comeback for Balzan too, winner of the latest three editions of the Carrera Cup Italy. His last drive in the national series dates back to 2008, at the wheel of the Ferarri F430 GT2 but in this 2012 edition the driver from Rovigo will defend this time, together with his young coequiper, the colors of Porsche in a tight GT3 class that will see on track the reigning champion Audi, BMW and Ferrari.

With the car lined up by Ebimotors two Stuttgart's coupes are currently confirmed to be taking part in the championship. Team Autorlando still did not put in an entry but it should not be missing for long as the Italian branch of the German brand gave full availability in terms of technical support, assistance and provision of spare parts to teams taking part in the championship.

The 911 GT3R Model Year 2012 is equipped with a 6 cilinders boxer 4 liters engine worth more than 500 hp, 20 more than its predecessor. The sequential 6 speeds gearbox will have paddle controls on the wheel. Carbon fiber has been extensively used for bumpers, front splitter, doors, bonnet, rear wing and mirrors to meet the minimum weight requirements of regulations.

"We are ready to to the quality leap - said Enrico Borghi – competing in the Italian GT Championship is the natural step forward after dominating the Carrera Cup Italy in the last three years. We decided to get out of the single brand logic to compete against other makes: we will find important brands lining up competitive cars therefore this is going to be an exciting challenge that Alessandro Balzan well deserves. Ebimotors opens a way that might be followed by other teams as the calendar synergy Italian GT and Carrare Cup Italy 2012 allows the two challenges to coexist. The ambition is to aim to the victory being aware that the lineup Balzan-Barri will be a competitive one".
