Monza, Thomas Biagi and Stefano Colombo (BMW Z4) get the GT3 title

Despite the retirement, the lineup of ROAL Motorsport takes the title at the end of an eventful race that was finally won by the Porsche GT3R of Balzan-Barri

21/10/2012 - Thomas Biagi and Stefano Colombo are the new Italian GT Champions of class GT3. The verdict arrived at the end of the last race of the season, a very tight and an eventful one with the ROAL Motorsports drivers, at the wheel of a BMW Z4 retired due to a fire start originated by an oil leak in the initial stages of the race.

Biagi and Colombo proceeded in classification Andrea Sonvico (Audi R8 LMS-Audi Sport Italia) for just a point, as the latter and his co-equiper Dindo Capello ended the race in tenth place of GT3 due to the dechapping of a tyre after a contact with the Ferrari driven by Mario Cordoni.
Fourth in the standings were Andrea Sonvico team mates Davide Di Benedetto and Alex Frassineti, who ended the season at 138 points, ahead of today’s winners, Balzan-Barri (Ebimotors),sixth at 131 points.
On the podium of race two, on the side on the winners Balzan-Barri, were Rangoni-Garofano, on Porsche GT3R (Autorlando) and Comandini-Lancieri (Ferrari 458 Italia-Vita4One Team Italy).
Fourth position in the race for Di Benedetto-Frassineti, who proceeded Sbirrazzuoli-Ramindra (Ferrari 458 Italia-AF Corse), Malucelli-Passuti (Porsche GT3R-Antonelli Motorsport), Cerruti-Liberati (BMW Z4-ROAL Motorsport) and Mancini-Magli (Ferrari 458 Italia-Easy Race).
The top ten was completed by Palma-Giammaria, ninth at the wheel of the Ferrari F 430 of class GT2, followed by Sanna-Stancheris (Lamborghini Gallardo-Imperiale Racing), with the latter being the first in the GT Cup.
