Daniel Zampieri and Giacomo Altoè (Lamborghini Huracan) won race-2 of the third round of the Italian GT Championship at the Misano World Circuit. The Antonelli Motorsport pairing has proceeded Mancinelli-Fontana (Ferrari 488-Easy Race) by 15”544s and the Audi R8 LMS of Baruch-Green (Audi Sport Italia) by 16”067s.

In the other classes, the win went to Marco Magli (Ferrari 458 Italia-Easy Race) in GT3 Light, Perolini-Valente (Lamborghini Huracan-Antonelli Motorsport) in Super GT Cup, Merendino-Di Benedetto (Porsche 991-Island Motorsport) in GT Cup and Magnoni-Cressoni (Ginetta G55) in GT4.

The 20 points harvested in this way handed Zampieri and Altoè the GT3 classification lead, from Baruch (69) to Gai (67), Mancinelli and Fontana (58).

The next round, the fourth of the season, will take place next July 14-15 at Mugello.

Race-2: A victory and the first place of the classification rewarded Zampieri-Altoè for their first win of the season after a second and two third places in Imola and Paul Ricard. Antonelli Motorsport’s pairing got the lead after the pit stops since they did not have to serve any handicap time. Altoè rejoined ahead of Fontana, after a great stint by Zampieri that has kept himself in second trailing Mancinelli. The 17 years old Italian managed to pull away since the beginning, getting clear of the fight that started behind him and took the win after building a 15s gap on Fontana.

Fights and twists characterized the fight for the third step of the podium that was eventually secured in the closing lap by Audi’s Baruch-Green. After a first stint run in the fifth position by the Israeli, the British driver put in a good comeback race that allowed him to find a way past Veglia first and then Comandini and Fontana. In the closing lap, Green secured the third place after the stop of Gai, who was second but had a problem with the electronics of the fuel pumps. The driver from Milan was hugely disappointed by run a good race alongside co-equiper Rugolo. The driver from Montebelluna, who has been replacing Fisichella as the latter has been contesting the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has been protagonist of a good stint keeping himself in P3, but the final twist stripped Gai, who had completed a good overtaking on Fontana shortly before, of important points for the classification.

Veglia-Vedel (Lamborghini Huracan-Antonelli Motorsport) started from the last row of the grid, but completed their race in P4, leading Palma-Barri (Lamborghini Huracan-Petri Corse), Comandini-Spengler (BMW M6 GT3-BMW Team Padova) and Gai-Rugolo, that ended seventh despite the mentioned technical problem.

Marco Magli was eighth overall and first of GT3 Light, the category in which he claimed the first win of the season. The Easy Race driver overtook the Audi R8 LMS of Magnoni-Cressoni early on and has always kept the first place of the class since then. He proceeded Perolini-Valente, that won Super GT Cup leading Pierluigi Alessandri and Cenedese-Sartori.

In GT Cup, Merendino-Di Benedetto (Porsche 991-Island Motorsport) repeated the victory in race-1, proceeding Pisani-Sauto (Porsche 997-Siliprandi Racing) and La Mazza-Nicolosi (Porsche 991-Ebimotors), while Magnoni-Cressoni (Ginetta G55-Nova Race) led team mates Marchetti-Kauppi in GT4.
