All is set at the circuit in Mugello for the closer of the Italian GT 2018 Championship this coming weekend. The pressure is on for an exciting grand finale especially in GT3 that has seen a year-long battle among Lamborghini, Ferrari and Audi, but in this occasion, the titles of Super GT Cup and GT Cup will also be decided.

GT3: The highest class will see a three-way fight involving Zampieri-Altoè (Lamborghini Huracan), Stefano Gai (Ferrari 488) and Bar Baruch (Audi R8 LMS), that are split by 11 points only. The victory in race-2 at Monza placed Antonelli Motorsport’s pairing Zampieri-Altoè on top of the standings with a 5 points margin on Gai (Scuderia Baldini 27), who will share the drive with Giancarlo Fisichella, and 11 points on Baruch (Audi Sport Italia), who will be sharing the cockpit with the French Benoit Treluyer. The drivers of the team from Bologna will also have a better situation in terms of jokers. Zampieri-Altoè will have to serve a 25s time penalty in race 1 which might shuffle the cards ahead of the final race on Sunday.

An exciting duel is ahead and several other lineups could slide in the battle to sneak a victory in the two races. Among these, the three Lamborghini Huracan fielded by Imperiale Racing with three lineups still to be unveiled, and the second Huracan of Antonelli Motorsport driven by Spinelli-Veglia. BMW Team Italia will also try to get a strong result with Comandini-Koebolt on the M6 GT3 that suits particularly the up-down hills of Mugello, then Ebimotors will fieldPiccioli-De Castro, at the comeback on the Lamborghini Huracan.

SUPER GT CUP: In the class reserved to the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo, Pietro Perolini is virtually the winner. Considering the 34 points lead he enjoys on his teammate Marco Cenedese, who will not be present in Mugello, Antonelli Motorsport’s driver is the new Italian Champion and the young driver from Crema will enjoy the two closing races in Tuscany. Marco Antonelli’s team will also field Simone Sartori and Gianni Di Fant, the latter at the debut in the Italian GT.

GT CUP: The Italian title is virtually in the hands of Davide Di Benedetto, who will share the Porsche 911 of Island Motorsport-Duell Motorsport with Vincenzo Sauto, one of the two drivers that could still aim to get the title. The presence of former coequipier Eugenio Pisani is still in doubt, as the driver from Butera will share the car of the new champion, while the team will field a second Porsche for Merendino-Lazarevic. La Mazza-Nicolosi complete the entry list on the Porsche 991 of Ebimotors.

THE PROGRAM: The seventh and closing weekend of the 2018 season will kick off on Friday with two free practice sessions (at 11.5 and 15.15) and will continue with two qualifying sessions (from 9.45 to 10.45). Race-1 will get underway on Saturday from 14,05, while Race-2 will be on Sunday at 14. Both will be run on the length of 56 minutes + 1 lap, with live coverage on Rai Sport and Live Streaming at www.acisport.it/CIGT.
