Vito Postiglione and Jeroen Mul (Lamborghini Huracan) claimed the victory in race-2 at the second round of the Italian GT Championship at the circuit Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola. A victory sought after that followed the sixth place in race-1. Imperiale Racing achieved their target after a good first stint by the strong Italian driver and the second stint in which the Dutch driver secured the result. Postiglione managed a great P3 in the first stint behind Comandini and Cressoni, while Mul, who exited the pits in P2 managed to close in on the young Simon Mann (Ferrari 488-AF Corse), who took over from Cressoni, thanks also to the safety car. At the restart, the last eight laps have been very exciting with Mul taking the lead on lap 22. The Dutch driver had then to fend off the attacks of the very fast Antonio Fuoco, who climbed up from P5 after taking over from Hudspeth, and in the closing stages he challenged the Imperiale Racing driver. Mul led the strong AF Corse driver by just 0.012s, which confirmed that it has been an exciting and tight race as usual in the Italian series.

The third step of the podium went to Daniele Di Amato and Alessandro Vezzoni at the end of a positive weekend. In race-2, after the first stint of Vezzoni, who managed to stay close to the front, Di Amato started lapping on an impressive pace installing himself in P6 early. The safety car compacted the group and allowed the driver from Rome to close in on the front runners: first, he managed to get past Baldan, and then Mann and Johansson in the order, which allowed RS Racing’s drivers to take their first podium of the season.

After the victory in race-1, BMW colors were fourth absolute in race-2. Comandini managed to get past poleman Cressoni and to take the lead, keeping it all the way to the pit stop, while Johansson, delayed by the time handicap to serve in the pits, could not defend the podium position, ending fourth leading a regular Nicola Baldan (Mercedes AMG-Antonelli Motorsport) and Fontana-Drudi (Audi R8 LMS). Audi Sport Italia run a recovery race-2. Started from the back after the penalty in qualifying, Fontana recovered several positions but an involuntary contact with Andrea Palma, who ended his race in the gravel trap, cost him a drive-through penalty. In the second stint, Drudi recovered some ground and closed sixth leading Perolini-Gersekowski (Lamborghini Huracan-Imperiale Racing), Mann-Cressoni, Magnoni-Cuneo (Lamborghini Huracan-LP Racing), that were the first of GT3 AM and Larini-Palma (Mercedes AMG-Antonelli Motorsport). An incident on lap 17 put off Veglia-Casè (Ferrari 488-Easy Race), after a contact with Gersekowsky, while Agostini-Rovera (Mercedes AMG-Antonelli Motorsport) had a tough weekend and retired from the race due to a suspension failure after the DNF in race-1 due to a puncture.a.

Four wins in as many races, this is the impressing pace of Alberto Lippi and Giorgio Sernagiotto on Ferrari 458 Italia, that dominated race-2. The victory of the RAM Autoracing/Iron Lynx drivers was never questioned after the first stint driven by Sernagiotto, who started from the second row of the grid, while Lippi managed the race in the second stint, ending ahead of a very good Mattia Michelotto, who is only 16 years old on the Lamborghini Huracan run by Antonelli Motorsport and teammates Paolino-Jirik (Lamborghini Huracan).

GT 4

The entry-level class has been hard-fought as always and offered several emotions in race-2. The victory went to the BMW M4 of Fascicolo-Guerra that took the lead early on. Guerra soon found his way past Camathias (Porsche Cayman-Autorlando) while Chiesa got P3. Riccitelli started from the last row of the grid due to a penalty in qualifying and put in a good comeback race, while his co-equiper De Castro completed a good performance taking P2 after overtaking Cerati and Ghezzi on lap 20. Ebimotors drivers closed behind the winners Fascicolo-Guerra leading race-1 winners Ghezzi-Camathias. The second pairing of Autorlando Cerati-Chiesa ended at the feet of the podium, while Luca Magnoni (Ginetta G55-Nova race) were fifth and proceeded the Polish drivers Piotr and Antoni Chozen (Maserati Gran Turismo-SVC S.M.) and Marchetti-Mantori (Ginetta G 55-Nova Race). The GT4 classification was completed by the two Maserati Gran Turismo of V-Action led by Leonardo Becagli, that secured some points after the bad luck in race-1 and Cerqui-Rodriguez, that were penalized by a puncture and strong vibrations in the closing stages that forced Cerqui to pit.
