Rally 1000 Miglia. Leg one started with the "Coventino" stage

Uncertain and very humid weather conditions, sometimes rainy in this first part of the racing day. The protagonists of the second round of the Italian Rally Championship, on stage on the roads near Brescia, left park fermè at 8 sharp this morning.

20/04/2012 – The contenders left on time heading to the first stage, the " Conventino", started on time at 9.04 (GMT+2) and unfolding in the 9.20Km where Giandomenico Basso set the quickest time on the Ford Fiesta of team A-Style. The second stage of "Tremonsine", run on 18.76Km had a similar plot and this time Basso was followed by the motivated Finnish Hanninen. This stage marked the retirement of the number 28, Eddie Sciessere due to a double puncture on his Renault Clio S1600, and of the young Andrea Carella as one of the rear wheels came off his Renault New Twingo.
Unstable weather characterized the stage of "Valvestino" that started in turn on time at 11.02 and that saw the reigning champion Paolo Andreucci and his co-driver Anna Andreussi on Peugeot 207 S2000 fastest on the 7,05 km.
After the longest stage, "Pertiche" ( 25,06 km), started at 11.47, the classification sees a very good Giandomenico and Mitia Dotta on top. Behind them, Andreucci- Scandola- Perico set virtually the same time; fifth place is currently held by the Finn Hanninen.
In this stage, Marco Signor on Skoda Fabia S2000 lost 3' due to a puncture that was promptly fixed.

Simone Campedelli and co-driver Danilo Fappani lead the Junior classification on Citroen DS3, and they are followed by Andrea Nucita with Giuseppe Princiotto at the notes, on Citroen C2. Another C2 is in third place, the one given to the pair Giacomo Cunial - Mattia Menegazzo.

In the Production championship, Ivan Ferrarotti is on top, behind the wheel of the Renault Megane RS lined up by Best Racing Team. Max Rendina, on Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, was forced to the retirement while he was trying to recover some lost ground to his rival.

The second round of stages will begin this afternoon at 15.06, with all drivers hoping in a weather allowing them to find the best technical solutions in a very spectacular race.
