10/10/2012 - Sanremo (Im). On the one side the best drivers of the Italian Rally Championship. In the other side those of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, top class International series. The name of the winner of the 54th edition of the Rallye Sanremo will certainly come from one of the two strong groups who, while aiming to the classification of the respective series, will also aim to win a prestigious race, one of the few in the world that can give a sense to the entire season of a driver.

In CIR it will be a two-fold battle between the Peugeot of Paolo Andreucci and the Skoda of Umberto Scandola. The needle of the scale will most probably be the Ford driven by Giandomenico Basso who, despite not aiming to the victory in the championship as he did not take part in all races, is able to influence the destiny of the two title contenders.

The IRC is dominated by Skoda, and Basso will try to win a race that has the two Skodas of Hanninen – the possible title winner – and of Kopecky, the two main protagonists. These will also have to face the attacks of a small bunch of Peugeot 207 Super 2000 like those given to the French Pierre Campana, to the Irishman Greig Breen, the Portuguese Brumo Magalhaes and the Belgian Henry Hunt.

The Rallye Sanremo will also be decisive in the Italian Junior Rally Championship with the challenge between the C2 Citroen of the Sicilian Andrea Nucita and the Renault Twingo of the Finn Mikko Pajunen.
Max Rendina will take part in the race and will celebrate the Production Italian title just won with the Mitsubishi belonging to Rally Project.

Among the other Italians that will certainly be protagonists Stefano Albertini and Alessandro Perico, both on Peugeot and Simone Campedelli.
The rally will also feature the race of four single-brand trophies: the Abarth Trophy, the Citroen Racing Trophy, the Renault Twingo Gordini Top and the Suzuki Rally Cup.
