GIandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai win the 52nd Rally Friuli Venezia Giulia on Ford Fiesta R5 and take the lead of the Italian Rally Championship

BRC's crew dominated the sixth act of the Italian Rally Championship.

Cividale Del Friuli (UD), Sunday 28 August 2016 -  The 52nd Rally Friuli Venezia Giulia, race organized by Scuderia Friuli ACU, ended with the victory going to the FORD Fiesta R5 of Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai run by Brc Racing Team. The second step of the podium went Paolo Andreucci and Anna Andreussi's ways, Peugeot 208 T16, while the battle for the third place in the Natisone's valley was won by Simone Campedelli and Danilo Fappani at the debut on the tarmac on the GPL Fiesta run by Brc. A the end of the two racing days, Basso got the lead of the classification at 69.75 points, with Paolo Andreucci second at 67,50 and Umberto Scandola third at 61. In the constructors championship, Ford (75,75 points) is leading Peugeot (64) and Skoda (56).

Alessandro Bosca, Ford Fiesta R5 also run a very good race. The driver from Piemonte was at his comeback to the Italian championship after a long time but has been very quick and ended fourth in the absolute classification. Behind him, another Ford driven by Antonio Rusce. The sixth place was secured by the German Albert Von Thurn und Taxis on Skoda Fabia R5.

The race in Friuli was also valid for the 2WD and for the Italian R1 Championship. In the 2WD, the fight has involved the usual names, Ivan Ferrarotti on Renault Clio R3C, had to retire in day one but then won the second, while Luca Panzani was the best of day one on Renault Clio R3 T. The classification lead is still in Ferrarotti's hands, but the Tuscan is following him closely. Simone Tempestini on Ford Fiesta R5 was slowed down by a puncture, but ended seventh anyway, while Michele Tassone, Peugeot 208 R5T16 was stopped by electric problems and Alessandro Perico had to stop due to an incident in the second leg.
An interesting race has also been run by the drivers of the R1 Italian Championship and Suzuki Rally Trophy, where the victory went to Lorenzo Coppe and Giacomo Poloni, after the other rivals Claudio Vallino and Jacopo Lucarelli went off.
In the women trophy, Corinne Federighi and Jasmine Manfredi took the victory on Renault Clio R3C. In the Clio R3T Trophy the victory of day one went to Federico Gasperetti while Aleks Humar won the second. Riccardo Canzian took the victory in the Twingo R1, while Marco Pollara and Giuseppe Princiotto, on Peugeot 208 R2 secured a strong result in Friuli winning the Michelin Rally Cup.
