All that could happen and something that should have not happened in this extraordinary rally day for the protagonists of the Italian Rally Championship and Italian Gravel Trophy.
Andrea Crugnola and co-driver Pietro Elia Ometto took a splendid win on Skoda Fabia. The win of the driver from Varese came at the end of a wise and careful day that allowed him to avoid all the pitfalls of the rally. Luca Rossetti, Citron C3, was second, while Giandomenico Basso was third and this allows him to take the lead of the classification back. An incredible mistake put Simone Campedelli off when he was firmly holding the lead. The Italian and co-driver Tania Canton, unfortunately, rolled their Ford Fiesta R5 run by Orange 1 Racing in the closing part of the rally.

Great fights and high-level performances were also put in by the youngsters of the Italian Junior Rally Championship. The victory and some heavy points went to Giuseppe Testa, who managed to finally get on the top step of the podium. He is one of the most experienced drivers around and he run a flawless day with co-driver Massimo Bizzocchi. Also, the other drivers of the ACI team Italia have been very good on their Ford Fiestas R2. The second place went to Mattia Vita, while the third to Giorgio Bernardi who led the very young Pasquale Pucella. A lot of drivers were hit by tough luck like Luca Bottareli, who had quite a troubled start and made a mistake in the shakedown, as Andrea Mazzocchi who had to retire due to electric problems when holding a great position. The Sicilian Marco Pollara could not shine either and went off in the shakedown before running an opaque rally. The work of Motorsport Italia’s staff has been great once again to prepare the Fords of the ACI national team drivers.
