The ACI Team Italia driver and co-driver Luca Guglielmetti concluded the Monte-Carlo Rallye in 5th place among WRC2 competitors and 15th overall.
Monaco, 27th January 2025 – The 93rd Monte-Carlo Rally for Roberto Daprà and Luca Guglielmetti, representing ACI Team Italia, concluded with an excellent 5th place among WRC2 competitors and 15th overall.
The opening day of the 93rd Monte-Carlo Rally presented challenging conditions, with 54.16 km of wet roads, patches of ice, and some muddy sections. Daprà finished fourth in WRC2 after completing the first two stages. He concluded the day in fourth place in WRC2, behind the two Citroëns of Yohna and Léo Rossel, and Camilli's Hyundai.
The second day of the rally saw the expected appearance of ice. The Italian driver set the fourth-fastest time in WRC2 on Saint Maurice-Aubessagne and the fifth on La Bréole-Selonnet, but the Saint Léger les Mélèzes stage was cancelled. Despite some tyre choices complicating the afternoon, Daprà remained fourth in WRC2 and 16th overall.
Saturday, the longest leg of the rally at 131.40 km, was marked by dry roads with muddy sections. Daprà showed improvement throughout the day after adjusting the car setup and finished with the fourth-fastest time on La-Bâtie-des-Fonts/Aspremont. He ended the day fifth in WRC2, just 7.3 seconds behind Cerny, and 18th overall.
The final leg, featuring 50.90 km of timed stages, presented many challenges. Sunday included three stages, two of which had already been raced on Thursday evening: Avançon-Notre Dame du Laus (13.97 km) and Digne les Bains-Chaudon Norante (19.01 km), along with the Power Stage La Bollène Vésubie-Peïra Cava (17.92 km).
Towards the end, Daprà dropped to 5th place in the WRC2 standings, overtaken by Cerny after encountering a puncture on a studded tyre just before the Power Stage. This forced him to adopt a more cautious approach on the Turini, where icy conditions prevailed.
Despite this, the ACI Team Italia driver remained satisfied:
“I didn’t expect to find the Turini in such challenging conditions,” commented Daprà at the finish line in Monte-Carlo. “Unfortunately, I got a puncture before the final stage and didn’t have the right tyres to challenge Cerny on the Power Stage, but that’s okay. This was the most difficult Monte-Carlo Rallye I’ve ever competed in, with extremely tough conditions. Still, finishing the race with a better result than last year was very important. The journey continues; now, we’ll focus on identifying areas for improvement so we can be even more prepared for the next rally in the Canary Islands.”
