20/03/2012 - The 13 May will mark the start of the CSAI Karting Italian Championship from the International Circuit Napoli of Sarno and lineups start to be delineated ahead of the coming season.

Some of the protagonists of the past season already put in their entry such as the young Federico Pezzolla; the Italian reigning champion in KF3 moved this year to an higher category, the KF2 where he is already been competing in International races. Pezzolla is currently racing with Team Taglienti in the WSK Master Series and will take part in the Italian championship with team Intrepid-Tm and later on in the season he will also be racing in the European championship and in the World Cup.

The Italian championship will be run this year on 5 rounds, all inserted in the International CIK-FIA calendar; it will include the categories KF3, KF2 and KZ2 with the participation of the National category 60 Mini and in some rounds of the categories 60 Baby and Prodriver.

As regarding the International categories KF2, KF3 and KZ2, the championship is open to foreign drivers that will be allowed to compete for the Italian title.

Only drivers with Italian licence will be allowed to fight for the titles of 60 Mini, 60 Baby and Prodriver instead. Foreign drivers having International licence will be allowed to race in the 60 Mini and, despite not being entitled to compete for the championship classification their race results will be awarded anyway.

The Italian CSAI Karting 2012 Championship's calendar follows:

13 May – International Circuit Napoli, Sarno - 60 Mini, KF2, KF3, KZ2
3 June - Pista Salentina, Ugento - 60 Baby, 60 Mini, KF2, KF3, KZ2
29 July – Circuit of Siena, Castelnuovo Ber. - 60 Baby, 60 Mini, KF2, KF3, KZ2
9 September – To be decided - 60 Baby, 60 Mini, KF2, KF3, KZ2
30 September – International Circuit of Abruzzo, Ortona - 60 Mini, KF2, KF3, KZ2, Prodriver
