After the first race of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship held in Sarno, the two Roman drivers Francesco Iacovacci and Leonardo Pulcini have been selected for the initiative promoted by CSAI in collaboration with the Ferrari Driver Academy.
The initiative is therefore renewed following the success harvested last year with the coordination of Giancarlo Minardi and the collaboration with the Federal School of Vallelunga.
This year two drivers for each round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship will be selected for a total of 10 youngsters aged between 13 and 16. After a psyco-attitude test held in Fiorano, a further choice will award the best three drivers with the Supercorso in Vallelunga scheduled for early November, where a Formula Abarth test is also programmed.
In the first round held at Sarno, the two selected drivers, both competing in KF3, are FRANCESCO IACOVACCI (15 years old from Rome) and LEONARDO PULCINI (14 years old from Rome).
FRANCESCO IACOVACCI (born on 23/02/97 in Rome). Francesco Iacovacci started racing in karts in 60 Mini with very good results in the Regional Championship of Lazio, taking part successfully to the Italian Championship reserved to Regional teams. After three years in 60 Mini, he moved to KF3 in 2010 taking part in two World Cup events and in the Selection for the European Championship last year. This year his main commitment is the Italian CSAI Karting Championship where he will be racing with team Prodriver: he started the season with a victory in Final-2 at Sarno, but he will also compete in the KF3 World Cup held in Spain at Zuera. His objective is to make debut in Formula Abarth as soon as possible.
LEONARDO PULCINI (born on 25/06/98 in Rome). Leonardo Pulcini made his debut in karting in 2010 directly in KF3, where he is currently racing with team Pacitto. Passion was inherited from his father that raced on karts at an amateur level and on Formula Renault. In 2011 Leonardo took part in the Italian Championship and in the KF3 World Cup, experience that he will repeat also this year. In the first race of the Italian CSAI karting season he obtained good placings in both finals held in Sarno at the end of a double recover after the qualifying heats.
