Italian success in International karting, Tiene and Corberi win the World Cup KF2 and KF3 in Spain

The two Italian drivers dominated their finals in the double round at the International Circuit of Zuera and win the two prestigious titles CIK-FIA in the categories KF2 and KF3.

25/09/2012 – Great Italian success in the double round of the world karting in Spain, valid for the CIK-FIA World Cup of the categories KF2 and KF3.

The two prestigious world titles have been won by two young Italian drivers, both on two prestigious Italian brands: Felice Tiene, 20 years old from San Giuseppe Vesuviano won in fact the KF2 title as works driver of CRG with BMB engine, while Luca Corberi, 15 years old from Brescia, won the KF3 title behind the wheel of a kart equipped with Kosmic chassis and Vortex engine, part of the Tony Kart group.

This exceptional result awards the Italian karting school that has always produced new talents and that is a milestone in the national industry of this sector with several constructors leading the international scene.

In the highest category, the KF2, Felice Tiene has been the unquestioned protagonist of the Spanish weekend, as he has constantly been among the best starting from the preliminary and qualifying heats to win later on the Pre-Final and the Final by a good margin. For team CRG the win of Tiene has been completed by a remarkable one-two-three as the second place was obtained by the Dutch Max Verstappen, son of the F1 champion Jos Verstappen, and the third place of the British Jordon Lennox-Lamb.

Felice Tiene is at his second International CIK-FIA title after winnin in 2009 the Asia-Pacific KF2 title in Suzuka.

Luca Corberi won the International CIK-FIA title in KF3 at the end of a weekend lived as a protagonist. In the Pre-Final, after starting from the front row, a contact with a rival forced Luca to end eleventh and therefore to a mid-field start in the Final. In the decisive race the driver from Brescia run his masterpiece recovering in just a few laps all the lost ground to end with the victory of the world title.

In the past years Corberi has already been under the spotlight thanks to the victory in the International Final in the Mini in the Rok Cup 2009 category and to the second place in the International Junior final in 2011. In 2010 he ended second in the Asia-Pacific KF3 Championship in Macau.

In 2011 Luca Corberi has been selected by the Ferrari Driver Academy for the programme directed by Luca Baldisserri and promoted in collaboration with ACI-CSAI.
