Capoliveri (LI), Saturday 24 September 2022 - The 34th edition of the Rallye Elba Storico ends with Angelo Lombardo and Roberto Consiglio in the Porsche 911 RS as overall winners both in the seventh round of the Campionato Italiano Rally Auto Storiche and in the round of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship.

First winner ever in the Island for the crew of Ro Racing, that with this result has achieved its main goal: the victory of the Italian Championship in Category 2 with a race to spare. A script in part already written in Leg 1, but which materialized in Leg 2 with Lombardo who placed himself in front of everyone in the standings in 1:37'40.5, by winning five stages including the long "Volterraio-Cavo” - five in total the scratches out of ten - and definitively distancing himself from the most fearsome opponents: Alberto Salvini and Totò Riolo.

The first one, overall winner of the last three editions in a row at Elba, together with Davide Tagliaferri, tried to attack the Sicilian driver, but he finished on the second step of the podium (for both European and Italian validity) aboard Porsche 911 RS provided by Scuderia Palladio Historic. The driver from Siena finished at +55.1 from the first place. He won also the last stage of the day “Bagnaia-Cavo” in 14’17.7.

A different end for Totò Riolo joined by Alessandro Floris in his Subaru Legacy. At his partecipation number #20 at Elba, the driver from Cerda, competitor in Category 4, was forced to forfeit due to an electrical problem in his car at the end of the long stage of “Volterraio-Cavo”.

So Natale Mannino and Giacomo Giannone (Porsche 911 SC) complete the podium at +5’18.The crew achieved also the successful result in the Category 3 both in the Italian and European validity.

Despite the rain, there were no surprises during the last part of the rally. Fourth place for Ermanno Sordi, joined by Maurizio Barone in the Porsche 911 SCRS (+8’00.8), ahead the Porsche 911 RS of Lucio Da Zanche (+8’15.2), fifth in the overall standings. The driver from Bormio returned to the race after his retirement in Leg 1 and he has been the author of very good times in the stages in his Porsche RS of Category 2 with Paolo Lizzi. Sixth place for Giovanni Mori, joined by Michele Frosini in the BMW M3 (+8’19.2). The crew earns also the second place in Category 4.

Sergio Farris finishes seventh overall (+9'24.9). The driver from Sardinia joined by Giuseppe Pirisinu aboard Porsche 911 achieved the third place in Category 4. He slipped in the standings after the last stage, the "Bagnaia-Cavo", due to a steering problem that led the crew to lose seconds in the last moments of the Elba race. Satisfaction and eighth place for Maurizio Pagella (+ 9'41.9), at the wheel of the Porsche 911 SC of Category 4 joined by Francesco Zambelli. The crew in the Opel Ascona 400 of Tiziano Nerobutto and Franco Battisti (+ 9'46.0), in second place in Category 3 behind Mannino, and the Ford Escort RS 1800 of Valter Anziliero and Alyssa Anziliero (+10'02.8) complete the top ten. A ranking for the positions below the podium that have changed over the last few kilometers.

Massimo Giuliani and Claudia Sora aboard Lancia Fulvia HF 1.3 win in Category 1. Second place for the crew formed by Fabrizio Pardi and Anna Canale in the other Lancia Fulvia, while the Porsche 911 S of Giuliano Palmieri and Lucia Zambiasi finished third in Category 1. Unfortunate epilogue, however, for Giuseppe Marcello Pollara and Michele Chionzini who remained in command from the Leg 1 with their BMW 2002 TI up to the last 18.44 kilometers of the "Bagnaia-Cavo", where they were forced to retire.

Excellent performance for Erwin Keller with Dominique Juplé in the BMW M3 in Category 4 of the European Championship.

Double success in the A112 Trophy in Race 1 and 2 for Ivo Droandi joined by Fornasiero, ahead of Maurizio Cochis and Milva Manganone. Nicola Tonetti and Giovanni Guerzoni get on the third step of the podium.

Now the Campionato Italiano Rally Auto Storiche 2022 will move towards the last round of the season at Rally Sanremo Storico, scheduled for October 15-16, where the overall standings will be decided.
