The Sicilian weekend that marks the start of 2022 Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi begins with collective tests, a four-hour session on track that is the first chance to put the tyres on the track of the Autodromo di Pergusa, before the weekend gets into full swing on Saturday and Sunday.

There are 19 drivers to take advantage of the opportunity, with the 2 cousins Pollini and Bassi not taking part in the session: for them the first session will be free practice 1 tomorrow at 9.00.  Racing under the Sicilian sun, with the asphalt at 41°, the best lap at the end of the morning is obtained by Lucas Medina, with 1'40.783. For the Colombian, the last time comes to improve his previous fastest lap by more than half a second, with an average of 176.8km/h, on the last of 30 laps completed. Then Matteo Roccadelli +0.713 and Davide Uboldi +0.790, the two Italian drivers are the only ones to stay within a second gap from the 18-year-old Colombian. Fourth best time for Frenchman Jolan Raccamier, then Swedish driver Simon Hulten. Sixth best lap in the collective test session to Filippo Lazzaroni, then the second Swede competing in Sicily this weekend, Erik Stilmann. Eighth best lap at the end of this morning morning session goes to the samurai, Giancarmine Spadaro, followed by Andrea Baiguera. Completing the top 10 is David Alejandro Acosta Molina, who is also the driver who has raced the most laps, with 48 laps completed.

A first opportunity then, today, for the teams to warm up the Yokohamas and start working on the weekend's set-up. Equally important for the drivers, who thus had the opportunity to become familiar with the Pergusa circuit, approaching the long fast straights and the narrow variants. Precious opportunity, in particular for the many Rookies and debutants who have chosen Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi and the Wolf GB08 Thunder for their motorsport carreer.

Back on track tomorrow at 10:10 with the first 25-minute free practice session, followed by a second at 13:10 pm. Also on Saturday afternoon, May 14, qualifying, on track at 15:15 p.m. with a single 25' session. Race 1 and Race 2 will be on Sunday 15, with the first of the two opening the day at 9.00 ( 25'+1 lap). Race 2 will be the last track-action in the ACI Racing Weekend, starting at 15:30 pm.

Both race sessions will be broadcasted live on television on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228 and 402 on Digitale Terrestre) and live streaming on Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi's Facebook and Youtube pages @cisprototipi.
