There comes confirmation in qualifying for Giacomo Pollini, still on another pace than the chasing group. 1'43.822 was the best lap that earned the driver from Brescia not only the pole position in race 1, but also the first point at stake in the weekend. None of the other drivers of the Wolf GB08 Thunder in Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi can keep up with him. The closest is his cousin and teammate, Matteo Pollini, who scores a gap of +1.088 and completes the front row for the team. Matteo Pollini had not been able to get on track during today's two free practice sessions, but he does not seem to have had any problems adapting in returning to the track after the summer break. Third is Davide Uboldi, Giacomo Pollini's main antagonist for the 2022 Championship, who will therefore start from the second row (+1.619). Uboldi will therefore have to, in tomorrow's race, immediately try to win  his two rivals position at the start, so as not to be forced to chase on the turns of the Santerno track, with the other competitors who certainly do not intend to stand by. These include Filippo Lazzaroni, also second in line tomorrow thanks to the fourth best lap in qualifying (+1.929). Also very good was the qualifying of Giovanni Maschio (+1.998), who chose the very Championship on Wolf Racing Cars to accumulate track time and refine his work in the Italian F.4 series, his main commitment in 2022, and seems to have found the perfect way to push his car to the maximum (+1.998). P6 to Matteo Roccadelli (+2.045), followed by Ennese driver Alessio Salvaggio (+2.358); eighth was Francesco Gàristo (+2.492), making his debut in the ACI Sport prototype series right on the Imola track and can certainly be satisfied with the output at day 1. Rounding out the top 10 is Swedish Emil Hellberg ninth (+2.674), followed by Gianluca Carboni (+3.168), making his long-awaited return after taking part in the 2018 season, the first of the union between ACI Sport and Wolf Racing Cars with the Aprilia-powered Wolf Thunder. The years of absence from the series do not seem to have weighed on Carboni, who was able to get his hand back immediately, right from the first contact in Free Practice 1, despite not having had the opportunity to run tests in preparation for this weekend.

Spectacle and competition then, is what is to be expected in race 1, with Giacomo Pollini showing off a superlative pace, determined to carry through to the end of a season that has seen him find the winning key from the very first bars. Of course, the competition is fierce and none of the rivals will want to make things easy for him.

Giacomo Pollini: "That was the goal once the break was over and we achieved it. We did first and second, the first time this year in qualifying, with Matteo not being able to make free practice because of a problem. Obviously we are satisfied, we feel very good after the summer break, we are rested and we started again in the best way."
