Matteo Roccadelli sets the pace in the first free practice session at the Temple of Speed in Monza. The Wolf GB 08 Thunder of the Italian Sport Prototypes Championship take to the track this morning for the first taste of the ACI Racing Weekend in Brianza, the one that will bring down the curtain on the 2022 season of the Italian series dedicated to prototypes.

Roccadelli signs a  1'52.544 lap on the stopwatch, followed by the two Pollini cousins at a reduced gap. Giacomo Pollini, current standings leader, closes the second best lap at +0.136. The driver from Calcinato (BS) is determined to finish the job and return home with the title, when currently only a handful of points separate him from the mathematical certainty of victory. Matteo Pollini, in turn, seems to have immediately found the right set up, with a gap of +0.343, he is the last of the drivers to stay below 1'53.

Fourth best time for Filippo Lazzaroni (+1.320), followed by Swede Linus Hellberg (+1.937). Sixth with a gap of +2.225 is instead the other pretender to the 2022 title, Davide Uboldi. This closes the first passage on the track, that of the morning, which took place with the asphalt still slippery due to the morning humidity of the Monza Park (humidity at 93%), on a dry track at 15°. Conditions that may not then be indicative of what the drivers will face in the rest of the weekend. Now The wait is on for the second session, on track from 11:50 to 12:15, then qualifying in the evening, starting from 17.00 to 17:25.

Saturday, Oct. 8, kicks off with the first of the weekend's two races, starting at 13:30. Then, the last race of the year will start from the Monza straight at 10:10 on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Both races will be viewable live on television on ACI Sport TV, Sky channel 228 and www.acisport.it, and streamed on Facebook and Youtube channels @cisprototipi.
