Excellent day 1 work for Matteo Roccadelli. At the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the final race weekend of the Italian Sport Prototypes Championship begins at full speed for the driver from Vercelli, currently leading the Under 25 standings. Roccadelli was the fastest of the drivers on the track today in all the day's sessions, crowning his performance with pole position in race 1. The lap worth the first place is 1'51.135.

Starting with him from the front row will then be the Championship leader, Giacomo Pollini. For G. Pollini is still very much alive with the hope of closing the ranking already in race 1, with a gap of +0.220 from the practice leader, he already gains a considerable advantage starting ahead. Qualifying third is Emil Hellberg, with a gap of +1.316 he earns the second row. Good news this for the Swedish driver, a direct rival of Giovanni Mazza (qualified P13) for the 2022 Rookie title. Joining him at the start tomorrow, just 3 thousandths behind, will be Matteo Pollini. Third row for Alessio Salvaggio (+1.366), and Davide Uboldi (1.403). A qualifying session not easy and full of twists and turns, the one that crowned Roccadelli today. Several were the red flag interruptions, the longest for the exit of Manuel Deodati coming to touch the barriers (driver ok).

It is precisely one of these interruptions that stopped Davide Uboldi's momentum. On the finale, the Como driver fails to close the fast lap: the flag that ends the session with just over a minute to spare is shown with Uboldi just a few meters from the finish line. The driver must therefore give up the lap that would have, according to the splits, allowed him to climb several positions, and return to the pits.

Good work by Linus Hellberg, Emil's brother, who get to end qualifying seventh (+1.506). L. Hellberg also comes to the grand finale of the season in full fight for the class title in his debut season in the category. Eighth is Filippo Lazzaroni (+1.777), followed by Francesco Gàristo (+1.944). Francesco Deodati (+2.617), first among the Master drivers, closes the top 10.

Now the wait begins for Race 1 on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 13:30 (25 minutes +1 lap), before then taking to the track for the last time in 2022 with race 2 on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 10:10 (25 minutes +1 lap).

The races will be broadcasted live on ACI Sport TV, Sky channel 228 and www.acisport.it, and streamed on Facebook and Youtube channels @cisprototipi. There is also free access to the racetrack over the weekend, with Paddock and Grandstands open. Info at https://www.monzanet.it/en/events/aci-racing-weekend-2/
