The Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi 2023 season will see the comeback of combined line-ups, with two drivers sharing the car. The first to be unveiled is the one that will see the Sicilian Salvatore Pennisi and the Anconetan Piero Principi race together.

The championship includes the possibility to race in teams, with a formula that sees the points collected by each driver summed up. In 2018 the Pollini cousins competed like this, sharing the car of the Giacomo Race, with Matteo being crowned the only champion as Giacomo couldn’t race during one weekend.

Pennisi and Principi are two drivers with different origins and ages, but with the same determination to represent one of the surprises of the year. Piero Principi, born in 1966, is an accomplished photographer, but has always had the passion for motorsport. He competed mainly in uphill racing with his iconic Honda until 2018, when he debuted on a Biposto Sport in the CIVM.

Salvatore Pennisi, born in Catania in 1983, is a mechanical engineer. After debuting in Karting with Henry Morrogh and his racing school, proved to be a very versatile driver. He raced in various monobrand categories while competing on track with F junior, up until recent experiences in TCR, GT Endurance and Rally.
