It’s a great start for Davide Uboldi in Pergusa: the series’ multi champion ended the first free practice session at the top of the timing sheets with a lap time of 1:40.346. The vice-champion of the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi started his weekend with the right foot, proving to be already at ease on the Sicilian circuit. Uboldi finished the first free practice session ahead of Emil Hellberg, winner of race 2 in Imola and currently third in the standings, 10 points behind the leader. The Swede led the pack during the first few laps but had to settle for second place four tenths behind Uboldi. Third on the timing sheets was Danny Molinaro, winner of the first race in Imola, just 47 thousands behind the second position.

The first session lasted four hours to give the drivers enough time to discover the Sicilian circuit and to prepare for the rest of the weekend, and saw the rain coming during the last hour with no driver being able to improve its timings. Another obstacle was the wind, which could be something to keep an eye on during the whole weekend. The session also saw three red flags; the first due to Hellberg while the second one because of Sonia Roussel, the only pink quota of the championship. The last interruption came with only eight minutes to go and ended the session earlier than expected as the race direction decided not to resume the action on track.

Fourth of the session was Matteo Roccadelli, BHK Motorsport, who was able to mark his time during the final phases when the track was wet. Jesse Menczer was fifth; the Bad Wolves driver is currently second in the standings, only 9 points behind the leader Uboldi. Pietro Ferri closed the session sixth, with the driver from Moncalieri being eager to improve his performance after retiring in Imola. The seventh time was signed by Vignash Kadarabad, ahead of his teammate Sonia Roussel at the end of the session; Sergio Farris was the last driver able to cross the finish line with a valid time, at his debut in the ACI Sport series.

The rich schedule of Pergusa will see two other free practice sessions of 25 minutes each, respectively at 10:10 AM and at 12:40 AM on Saturday. The first final verdict will be the Qualifying round at 04:00 PM, while Sunday, 21 May, will see the two races go underway. ACI Sport TV, channel 228 on Sky, will broadcast live both of them, respectively at 09:00 AM and at 03:00 PM.
