Davide Uboldi claimed the pole position of the second round of Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi: the series’ multi champion showed a great ability in reading the conditions of the track, closing the session at the top of the timing sheets with a lap of 1:52.381. Uboldi will start first in race 1, where he will try to gain as many points as possible to maintain his lead in the championship standings, after an amazing performance during the last round in Imola. The session saw mixed conditions but a very wet and slippery track and the debut of the new Hankook wet tires. Uboldi managed to immediately express his potential, improving his timings lap by lap; after a red flag, out with only three minutes to go as Sergio Farris made a mistake in the last sector, the driver from Como decided not to go back on track and still maintained his advantage.

Next to Uboldi will start Matteo Roccadelli: the BHK Motorsport driver, who had already shown a promising pace in the free practice sessions, qualified second despite a 2 seconds gap from the poleman. Third was Danny Molinaro, Imola race 1 winner, thanks to his last lap that was fastest than Vignash Kadarabad’s one; the Under 25 standings’ leader had to settle for the fourth position. Fifth was Jesse Menczer, three tenths ahead of Pietro Ferri; Alister Yoong was able to qualify only seventh despite the great pace shown in FP2. Eight was Imola race 2 winner Emil Hellberg, poleman of tomorrow’s race thanks to the reverse grid rule. At the end of the Top 10 there are David Acosta Molina and Giovanni Mazza, poleman of the Master category.

With Saturday in the books the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi will hit the track of Pergusa on Sunday, 21 May, for the two races at 09:00 AM and at 03:00 PM; both races will be live streamed on ACI Sport TV, channel 228 of Sky.
