Danny Molinaro claimed the fastest lap during the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi first free practice session in Monza. The driver from Calabria led the 16-drivers-pack with a timing of 1:54.741 at the beginning of the third round of the season. The championship leader Emil Hellberg was just behind Molinaro with a gap of 655 thousandths, while the championship contender Matteo Roccadelli only 21 thousandths behind.

The young driver is the only competitor who was able to snatch the pole position so far and is determined to do it again in the afternoon during the qualifying round. However he will have to watch out for Linus Hellberg, Emil’s brother, back on track after skipping the Pergusa round and ready to support his brother’s fight for the championship win, racing with him for the Bad Wolves team.

Fifth was Davide Uboldi, disputing his home race, in front of Stefano Attianese, leader of the Master trophy. The Malaysian Alister Yoong was seventh, looking for redemption after two tricky weekends in Imola and Pergusa. The debuting driver Surineni Chetan is the second Indian driver on the grid of the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi and completed his first ever session 12th.

The CISP schedule for this weekend in Monza sees the second free practice session at 1:05 PM, while the qualifying round will go green at 5:35. The two races will go underway as usual on Saturday and on Sunday, respectively at 2:15 PM and at 11:00 AM. Both will be streamed live on ACI Sport TV, channel 228 on Sky, and on the CISP Facebook and Youtube channels.
