The Autodromo Nazionale Monza will see its second round of the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi, as it hosted the last weekend before the summer break, and it will host the first one back on track. Three rounds have already gone in, while there are three remaining ones to see who is going to be Giacomo Pollini’s successor in the roll of honor of ACI Sport’s series, which sees the Wolf BG08 Thunder busy on some of the best Italian circuits such as Imola, Pergusa, Monza, Mugello, and Vallelunga.

Matteo Roccadelli (BHK Motorsport) leads the championship after the last round back in June, when he was able to collect 42 points and top the standings with 88 points total. The driver from Piedmont, who turned 19 during the summer, will try to celebrate his return to the track in the best way possible, but it won’t be easy seeing the other contenders.

Emil Hellberg (Bad Wolves) has collected 77 points up until now, winning two races, one in Imola and one in Pergusa. In Brianza he will enjoy a 3kg lighter car than Roccadelli’s one, given the weight handicap based on the race points scored in the previous round. He will have his brother Linus as a teammate, who, after skipping the Pergusa round, was back on track in June to support Emil’s title fight.

Danny Molinaro, 2021 champion, is currently third with 56 points in his bag, but he will have to be careful as the British driver Jesse Menczer (Bad Wolves) is only three points behind but with a five-kilogram ballast (up to sportive reguolation). The top-5 is completed by Davide Uboldi (Uboldi Corse), who will hunt for another podium to try and go up in the standings after collecting 43 points during the first half of the season.

Roccadelli also leads the Under 25 championship with 95 points, with Molinaro behind with 62 points and Vignash Kadarabad with 56. Stefano Attianese will resume his season as the Coppa ACI Sport Master leader with 74 points, followed by the Emotion Motorsport pair of Giovanni Mazza and Manuel Deodati, with 62 and 40 points respectively. Between the rookies there’s Croatian Donald Milokanovic in front of everyone with 65 points, but with only a three-point gap from Kadarabad. Salvatore Pennisi is third with 51 points.

The weekend in Monza, the fourth round of the 2023 season of the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi, will see two 25-minutes free practice sessions on Friday, September 15, respectively at 8:30 AM and 12:35 PM. The qualifying round, which will also be 25 minutes long, is scheduled for Friday afternoon at 5:50 PM. The two races, live streamed on SKY (Channel 228), Facebook, and Youtube, will go underway on Saturday, September 16, at 12:50 PM and on Sunday, September 17, at 9:30 AM. Admission to the paddock and to the grandstands will be free for the whole ACI Racing Weekend.
