Matteo Roccadelli (BHK Motorsport) brought home his third consecutive win in the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi. After starting from the pole position, the championship leader was overtook at the Prima Variante both by Davide Uboldi (Uboldi Corse) and Emil Hellberg (Bad Wolves). The race was then neutralized during the first lap to allow the Marshalls to recover Jesse Menczer’s car, parked at the Prima Variante after a contact, and Donald Milokanovic’s one after Biassono. While the Safety car was entering back the pits, Roccadelli hit Emil Hellberg’s rear at Variante Ascari; the Swedish driver spun, while the championship leader was investigated by the race direction.

Another re-start, another crash, as Pietro Ferri (Emotion Motorsport) and Sonia Roussel (Bad Wolves) crashed at the Parabolica and brought back the SC on track. Yoong managed to overtake Roccadelli in the few moments of green flag. After the race direction allowed the pack to start again, Roccadelli managed to overtake back Uboldi at the end of the seventh lap, after overtaking the Malaysian driver a few moments before. The driver from Vercelli maintained the first position up until the end of the race, collecting his third consecutive win and expanding his championship lead.

The battle for the second place was the protagonist of the last few laps: after a long fight between Uboldi and Emil Hellberg, it was Alister Yoong (Luxury Car Racing) who claimed the second spot. The Malaysian took advantage of his two rivals colliding to bring home his best seasonal result. Third was Uboldi, on the podium after leading for the first few laps.

Fourth was Emil Hellberg, right behind the podium finishers, while fifth was Giovanni Mazza (Emotion Motorsport), who had a problem at the start but still managed to finish in the top-5. Sixth was Linus Hellberg, penalized with 25 seconds due to a first lap regulations infringement.

The Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi still has one race to go, with race-2 underway on Sunday, September 17, at 9:30. Just like race-1, it will be live streamed on SKY (Channel 228), Facebook and YouTube. Admission to the paddock and grandstands is free for the whole ACI Racing Weekend.
