PREMA Racing is delighted to announce that James Wharton will stay with the team in 2023 for his second Formula 4 season. Making his single-seater debut at the beginning of the year, the Australian racer delivered a fine performance in the F4 UAE championship, securing four wins in the four rounds he entered.

Wharton finished fifth overall in both the Italian and German Formula 4 Championship, claiming multiple podium finishes and rookie wins. He also secured his maiden European overall win in round 4 of the ADAC-promoted series at Nürburgring.

The Ferrari Driver Academy member will now look to consolidate the gains he made with a consistent run in his rookie season. He will begin his 2023 campaign with the F4 UAE Championship, before entering the full Italian Formula 4 championship. Additional appearances will be announced in due course.

James Wharton: “I'm very proud and very happy to be back racing with PREMA. It will be our second season together in Formula 4 and in single-seaters, and it's very good to be sticking with the same people around me as well. I'm very comfortable with the team already from the 2022 season, and I'm ready for a big push in 2023!"

Angelo Rosin - Team Principal: "It's good to have James with us for another Formula 4 season together. I think what he learned in his first season will benefit himself throughout 2023 but also the team as a whole in terms of consistency and knowledge. We will do our best to help him achieve more winning results after an already positive 2022 programme and we are delighted to keep working with him."
