The Brazilian Matheus Ferreira sets the fastest time of the day in the Formula 4 collective tests

In Imola, it is the Brazilian of US Racing who stands out, right in the last session of the day

The day preceding the start of the second ACI Racing Weekend of the season, the second round of the Italian F.4 Championship, has concluded at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola. Thursday was dedicated to collective tests for the young talents in single-seaters of the series promoted by ACI Sport and WSK Promotion, who took to the track divided into 3 groups for a total of 9 sessions, alternating on track from 9 to 18:30. After the fastest lap set in the morning by Dion Gowda, further improved in the early afternoon by Hiyu Yamakoshi, it was ultimately Matheus Ferreira who recorded the fastest time of the day in the very last session of the evening.

In the last session of Group A, Reno Francot confirmed his dominance for the third time, setting the fastest lap at 1’46.089. Second place went to Ethan Ischer with a gap of 0.588, followed by Enea Frey at 0.622, forming a top trio all representing Team Jenzer Motorsport. Fourth place went to the Italian driver Emanuele Olivieri, just two thousandths behind the Swiss driver, 0.624 seconds off Francot. Fifth in the last session of Group A was the Real Racing driver Luca Viisoreanu, recording a gap of 0.958 on the best lap.

In Group B, the British driver Freddie Slater took the lead with 1’45.708. Right at the checkered flag, his teammate in Team Prema Racing, Alex Powell, set the second-fastest lap with a gap of 0.196, placing himself ahead of the Indian driver Dion Gowda, who was third by 2 tenths. Fourth place went to the Latvian Tomass Stolcermanis, who, with a gap of 0.216, ensured that the Vicenza-based Team occupied all the top 4 positions in the last test of Group B. Fifth was the Italian driver of PHM AIX Racing, Davide Larini, with a gap of 0.323.

Closing the day was Group C, with the last session of the collective tests, where the fastest time of the day was set. It was the Brazilian of US Racing, Matheus Ferreira, who stood out at the end, completing the lap in 1’45.416. Still very fast was the Swedish driver of Van Amersfoort Racing, Gustav Jonsson, who finished just 0.04 seconds behind his rival. Third place went to Hiyu Yamakoshi, with the Japanese driver of Van Amersfoort Racing also very close, with a gap of 0.086 from Ferreira. Fourth place went to the New Yorker Akshay Bohra, followed by the German driver Maxim Rehm, both representing US Racing, who recorded gaps of 0.273 and 0.456 seconds respectively.

 

Back to the track tomorrow, Friday, May 31, with two 40-minute free practice sessions, starting at 9:40 and 14:30. Qualifying will take place on Saturday morning, June 1, in two 15-minute sessions starting at 10:40 and 11:05, followed by Race 1 (30 minutes + 1 lap) in the evening at 17:30. Sunday, June 2, will feature Race 2 (30 minutes + 1 lap) at 9:00 and Race 3 (30 minutes + 1 lap) at 15:30. The 3 weekend races will be broadcast live with Italian commentary on ACI Sport TV, channel 228 on Sky, channel 52 on Tivù Sat, and www.acisport.it, and with English commentary on the official YouTube and Facebook pages of the Italian F.4 Championship, as well as across the Championship's extensive international network.
