Yamakoshi tops free practice 1 at Vallelunga

The Japanese driver from Van Amersfoort Racing set the fastest time ahead of Finnish Sammalisto

The ACI Racing Weekend at the Vallelunga Circuit is officially underway. The first activity of the day for the drivers of the Italian F.4 Championship, here at the capital's circuit for the third round of the season, is free practice 1. The first of the two 40-minute sessions scheduled for today ended with Japanese driver Hiy Yamakoshi on top. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver, who had taken all the pole positions and won two out of three races in Imola, obtained his best lap time at 1’33.722 this morning, once again showcasing the exceptional pace he had in Emilia Romagna. Second, 0.197 seconds behind, was Finnish driver Luka Sammalisto from R-ace GP, the only other driver to stay under one minute and 34 seconds.

Third position went to Swedish driver Gustav Jonsson from Van Amersfoort Racing, who set a gap of 0.291. Fourth was Australian driver Gianmarco Pradel from US Racing, with a margin of 0.296 from the leader, followed in fifth place by Andrej Petrovic. The Serbian driver from PHM AIX Racing registered a gap of 0.331. Sixth place went to Championship leader Freddie Slater, representing Prema Racing, at 0.337. Following him on the clock was his Emirati teammate, Rashid Al Dhaheri, who lapped 0.340 seconds behind Yamakoshi. Eighth and ninth places went to two US Racing drivers: Indo-American Akshay Bohra at 0.424 and German Maxim Rehm at 0.465. Closing the top 10 was Maksimilian Popov, representing PHM AIX Racing, with a gap of 0.501.

There will be another opportunity to work on the car setup for the weekend in the early afternoon, with Free Practice 2 starting at 15:35. Saturday, June 15th, will be the turn of qualifyings, in two sessions from 9:35 to 9:50, and then again from 10:00 to 10:15. Race-1 will be on Saturday evening, with 30 minutes + 1 lap starting at 15:45. Sunday, June 16th, will feature the remaining two races of the weekend: Race-2 (30 minutes + 1 lap) at 9:00, and Race-3 (30 minutes + 1 lap) ready to start at 14:25.

 

The three races of the weekend will be broadcasted live on the Italian F.4 Championship's YouTube and Facebook channels, on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228, Tivù Sat channel 52, and streaming on www.acisport.it), as well as on the extensive network of international televisions that broadcast the races of the Italian F4 Championship 2024, including the DAZN platform.
