Alex Powell is the fastest in the second free practice session at Vallelunga

Excellent performance by the Mercedes junior from Prema Racing. Yamakoshi retains the fastest lap of the day with his performance this morning

At the Piero Taruffi Circuit in Vallelunga, the day dedicated to free practice for the third round of the 2024 Italian F.4 Championship has ended. This morning, the fastest time was recorded by Hiyu Yamakoshi of Van Amersfoort Racing, with a time of 1'33.722, which remained the fastest lap of the day even after the afternoon session.

Returning to the track in the early afternoon for a second 40-minute session, it was the Mercedes junior driver from Prema Racing, Alex Powell, who set the fastest time in Free Practice 2, achieving the lead right at the checkered flag. The Jamaican completed his best lap in 1'33.952, dethroning the previous leader of the session by only 9 thousandths of a second. The previous leader was the Brazilian from US Racing, Matheus Ferreira, who had been first for most of the 40-minute session and ended up second. Other drivers from the Team led by Gerhard Ungar and Ralf Schumacher placed high in the session rankings, occupying all positions from second to sixth place. Third was the Australian Gianmarco Pradel at 0.101, followed by fellow Australian Jack Beeton at 0.149. Indo-American Akshay Bohra finished the session in P5 with a recorded gap of 0.252, followed by Maxim Rehm at 0.366 in P6. Seventh in the session, after recording the fastest lap of the day, was the Japanese Yamakoshi, with a gap of 0.403. Rounding out the top 10 were three drivers from Prema Racing, UAE driver Rashid Al Dhaheri, with a gap of 0.44; Latvian Tomass Stolcermanis with a gap of 0.528, and Freddie Slater at 0.539.

 

The action resumes tomorrow, Saturday, June 15, with official qualifying sessions starting in two parts from 9:35 to 9:50, then again from 10:00 to 10:15. Race 1 will take place on Saturday evening, with 30 minutes + 1 lap starting at 15:45. On Sunday, June 16, the remaining two races of the weekend will occur: Race 2 (30 minutes + 1 lap) starting at 9:00, and Race 3 (30 minutes + 1 lap) scheduled to start at 14:25.

The 3 races of the weekend will be broadcasted live on the Italian F.4 Championship's YouTube and Facebook channels, on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228, Tivù Sat channel 52, and streaming on www.acisport.it), as well as on the extensive network of international television channels that broadcast the Italian F4 Championship 2024 races, including the DAZN platform.
