The competing cars will display the association's logo, highlighting the strong bond between sports and solidarity
The Cancro Primo Aiuto ETS-ODV Association (Third Sector Entity – Volunteer Organization), active since 1995 in supporting cancer patients, will play a key role in the final round of the Italian F.4 Championship at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza. The cars in the race will feature a sticker with the association's logo, symbolizing its ongoing commitment to providing tangible assistance to patients and their families.
Support for Cancro Primo Aiuto during the final round of the Italian F4 Championship will also come from Tatuus Racing. The Italian company, which supplies the cars for the championship, has made space available (specifically on the car’s number holder) to join the championship in supporting the association.
Founded by entrepreneur and visionary Walter Fontana, the association is distinguished by its practical and dynamic approach, dedicated to a non-profit operation that exclusively pursues goals of solidarity. Through collaboration with institutions, hospitals, and research centers, Cancro Primo Aiuto supports patients throughout their treatment journey and promotes cancer prevention and awareness.
The association has a particularly strong connection with sports, using it as a tool to raise awareness and funds for assistance projects. Every year, Cancro Primo Aiuto organizes numerous sporting events, including the Loris and Walter Fontana Memorial (dedicated to skiing), golf tournaments, and cycling competitions, with the goal of combining solidarity with sports. Additionally, the city of Monza plays a central role in the association's activities, serving not only as its legal headquarters but also as the stage for significant solidarity initiatives.
Over the years, Cancro Primo Aiuto has received numerous awards for its social commitment. Among the most prestigious are the Certificate of Civic Merit from the Municipality of Milan in 2011, the Rosa Camuna Award from the Lombardy Region in 2015, the Silver Medal of Merit from the Italian Red Cross in 2021, the plaque and medal awarded by the Italian Senate this June, and a meeting with the Holy Father. These recognitions highlight the concrete and positive impact the association has had, not only locally but also nationally, through its numerous initiatives in support of cancer patients.
The association’s activities include services such as psychological support for patients and their families, transportation to medical appointments, free screenings, and its flagship initiative, the “Wig Project,” which provides women undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy with free wigs. By the end of this year, 30,000 wigs will have been donated. In 2024, the association plans to raise and donate €2.5 million towards assistance projects, directly impacting over 80,000 people in need.
"We're just people helping other people" is the motto of Cancro Primo Aiuto, which, through its work in healthcare and social services, has become a point of reference for the needs that patients and their families face during treatment.
