Franciacorta, Castrezzato, June 28th, 2024. The ACI Sport Karting Commission, led by President Raffaele Giammaria and assisted by Secretary Manolo Bastianelli, organized an initial test at the Franciacorta Karting Track in collaboration with the manufacturers of the homologated MINI Gr.3 engines, intending to evaluate a possible performance reduction for the MINI Gr.3 Under 10 is a category reserved for children aged 8 to 10.

With the introduction by ACI Sport, starting from January 2023, of the Under 10 category alongside the MINI Gr.3, the Karting Commission is now studying the adoption of a potential technical regulation dedicated to karts driven by the younger children, which would provide for slightly lower lap times and maximum speeds.

President Raffaele Giammaria commented: “We are in a phase of study and evaluation regarding a performance reduction for the Under 10 category. ACI Sport, through the Karting Commission, is working on this by conducting a series of track tests. I am very pleased that we have found great support from the manufacturers, with whom we have developed an excellent collaborative relationship over the past three years. Thanks to the availability of the manufacturers who currently have homologated MINI Gr.3 engines, we are assessing a possible technical adjustment to reduce the power of the karts driven by all the Under 10 children. Last Wednesday, four karts powered by TM Kart, IAME, VORTEX, and LKE engines ran on the Franciacorta track. ACI Sport considers it important to evaluate a potential power reduction that could lead to different technical regulations for karts dedicated to children aged 8-10 years and those driven by children aged 10-12 years.”
