Sarno (Salerno), July 21st, 2024.
The fourth round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship once again provided an excellent spectacle at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno, with a great turnout of 218 verified drivers out of 225 registered, across the KZ2, OK-N, OK-N Junior, and MINI categories for the penultimate event of the Italian Championship. This result continues the positive trend of this year’s Championship after the previous three rounds, which had recorded 224 drivers at Triscina, 214 at La Conca, and 238 at Val Vibrata.

The new layout at Sarno was also exciting and appreciated, with the addition of an "S" curve before the finish straight, bringing the track to a total length of 1,670 meters. However, the Sarno event was quite challenging due to the intense heat that persisted throughout the weekend, making the competition even more difficult for drivers and staff. In the end, the event was held with perfect regularity, with the double finals on Sunday determining the winners of this round before the final event on September 22nd at Lonato. But nothing is decided yet, with the standings still open due to the incremental scoring applied to each round and the requirement of two drop scores.

The finals in Sarno.
KZ2 - Bertuca confirms his win in Race 1, while Nomblot takes victory in Race 2.
Cristian Bertuca (#102 LG Motorsport/BirelART-TM Kart-Vega) had no trouble confirming his lead in the championship, securing another victory, his fourth of the season, after being the fastest in practice and heats. Following the LG Motorsport driver were the two Sicilians Angelo Lombardo (#123 KCS/BirelART-TM Kart) and Michael Barbaro Paparo (#134 Monster K Factory/CRG-TM Kart), who engaged in an exciting final duel. In a comeback, Alessio Piccini (#107 Modena Kart/Parolin-TM Kart) finished fourth, with his teammate, the Swede Norton Andreasson, in fifth place. The Under 18 podium was again topped by Bertuca, with Simone Bianco (#121 Kalì Kart Racing/Kalì Kart-TM Kart) in second and Leonardo Placido Bonomo (#140 VRT Motorsport/Parolin-TM Kart) in third. Blandino managed to maintain the lead throughout a very tight race, eventually winning deservedly. At the finish line, Cristian Tonalini (#302 Tona Racing/Tony Kart-TM Kart) finished in the wake of Blandino, while Giacomo Giusto (#335 Modena Kart/Parolin-TM Kart) secured third place on the podium in the final laps, ahead of Angelo Bruno Blanco (#340 LA Motorsport/Parolin-TM Kart) and Michele Orlando (#338 DR/DR-Modena Engines), who lost the podium in the final laps.

The first of the two OK-N finals was both beautiful and intense, ending with a very tight duel won by Manuel Scognamiglio (#442 Tellone Motorsport/Tony Kart-Iame-MG) over Antonio Apicella (#418 GSR Team/LN Kart-Iame). The race was also great for championship leader Federico Rossi (#436 PRK/Tony Kart-TM Kart), who finished third and is increasingly favored to win the title. Francesco Marenghi (#420 MLG Racing Team/Parolin-TM Kart) finished in fourth place, with Gino Rocchio (#422 Monster K Factory/CRG-TM Kart) in fifth. Another key player in the category, Federico Albanese (#401 Italcorse Racing Team/Italcorse-TM Kart), finished in eighth place.

Niccolò Perico (#213 Energy Corse/Energy-TM Kart-MG) put on a show in the first of the two finals, along with his teammate Davide Di Filippo (#217 SpinoProject/Energy-TM Kart). Together, they managed to contain the competitiveness of the young Hong Kong driver, John Han (#247 BabyRace/Parolin-Iame), who was particularly fast and a surprise in the category. The three finished in that order, separated by mere thousandths of a second. Another BabyRace driver, Lorenzo di Pietrantonio, performed well, finishing in fourth place, while Stepan Mazepin (#205 SM Racing/OTK-TM Kart) secured fifth.
