Magione: Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini ruling in qualifying. Four races on tomorrow's schedule

18/06/2011 - The Audi R8 LMS of Dindo Capello (Audi Sport Italia) and the Porsche GT3R of Paolo Ruberti (Autorlando) dominated the two qualifying sessions of the third round of the Italian GT Championship at Magione's racing track. The two drivers set best absolute and GT3 class times in their session and will therefore start from the pole position of the two races that will see classes GT2, GT3 and GT4 grouped togheter.

In race 1 Capello will have on his side the team mate Andrea Sonvico, while Marco Cordoni (Porsche GT3R-Autorlando) and the first of the GT2 drivers, Victor Coggiola (Porsche RSR-Victor Porsche) will start from the second row. Behind them will line up Claudio Rossetto (Ferrari F 430-Vittoria Competizioni) and the first of the GT4 drivers Manuel Lasagni (Ginetta G50-Nova Race).

In race 2 Ruberti will start from the pole and will have Marco Bonanomi (Audi R8 LMS) on his side, the latter has also led the qualifying for a long time. Behind them the other Audi Sport Italia driver Alessandro Cicognani and Ferdinando Geri (Ferrari F 430-Vittoria Competizioni), first of the GT2 drivers. Daniele Saggese (Ginetta G50-Scuderia Costa Ovest), set the fastest time of the GT4 drivers and will start from the third row right ahead of the Nova Race's colors bearers, Piero Foglio and Tiziano Frazza, both driving a Ginetta G50.

In GT Cup the Lamborghini Gallardo emerged from the two qualifying sessions. In the first session the pole was secured by Giorgio Sanna (Team Imperiale) that proceeded a whole lot of Porsche 997 led by Christian Passuti (Team Antonelli), good to set the second time in the final stages of the session. Behind them will start race one Simone Iacone (Petri Corse Motorsport) and Valentino Fornaroli (GDL Racing).

In qualifying two things seemed straightforward for Giacomo Piccini (Mik Corse) who set a fastest time of 1.11.577, leading the F430 Ferrari driven by Matteo Malucelli (1.11.685) and the two 997 Porsche of Rino Mastronardi (1.11.771) and Andrea Gagliardini (1.11.876).

The programme of the weekend will continue tomorrow at 9 (local time, GMT+2) with GT2, GT3 and GT4 race one, while at 10.10 it will be GT Cup's turn. The afternoon will begin at 15.20 with race two for the classes GT2, GT3 e GT4 and it will end at 16.30 with race two reserved to GT Cup cats. All races will be run on the distance of 48 minutes plus a lap.
