The await is mounting for the grand finale of the Italian GT Championship, scheduled for this weekend at the circuit of Monza. The fast track near Milan is the traditional theater of the last round of the season and also this year it will decide the name of the Italian Champion and the challenge is going to be interesting as three lineup are still in contention plus one underdog – still not out of the games – that will try to cook someone else's goose.

The classification leaders Comandini-Colombo (BMW Z4-ROAL Motorsport) will get to Monza with a one point lead to Postiglione-Lucchini (Porsche GT3R) and eight to Venturi-Maino (Ferrari 458 Italia), but the color bearers of Ebimotors and Black Bull Swisse Racing seem to have some chances more due to the results that will have to be discarded and as they will not have any time penalty to serve on top of a possibly better adaptation of their car to the fast circuit of Monza.

The past editions of the Italian GT had always lived strong emotions in the final act of the season and this year Gabriele Lancieri (Ferrari 458 Italia) could get into the games for the title. The driver in force at MP1 Corse, still waiting to know his co-equiper, is 19 points short of the leaders but the driver from Imola gets to the start ready to play all his cards.

Two new lineups will be present in Monza too. Imperiale Racing will in fact line a second Lamborghini Gallardo up on the side of the one driven by Sanna-Barri. The second car will be driven by Amici-Zaugg, while the Austrian team Tonino Motorsport will take the lineup Ragginger-Renauer to the debut at the wheel of a Porsche GT3R.

The entry list will be completed by the two Audi R8 LMS of Capello-Sonvico and Kristoffersson-Frassineti (Audi Sport Italia), the second BMW Z4 driven by Michela Cerruti and the Porsche GT3R of Passuti-Mapelli (Antonelli Motorsport).

In GT Cup, the new Italian Champions Babini-Bianco, that won the title in Vallelunga on the Porsche 997 belonging to GDL Racing, will have their final runway in Monza this time at the wheel of a Lamborghini Gallardo fielded by Imperiale Racing, while the firm from Sant'Agata Bolognese will take on track a second car run by Bonaldi Motorsport and driven by Mirko Zanardini.

Eyes on track will be on the duel for the second place in the standings, a challenge that will involve Antonelli Motorsport's Marco Magli, Vincenzo Donativi and Omar Galbiati, with the latter sharing the cockpit of the Porsche 997 with Luca Rangoni, and then Adriano Pan (Ebimotors) will race alongside with Ivan Jacoma.

The programme of the weekend of Monza schedules the two qualifying sessions on Saturday (from local 10,40 to 11,30), followed by race one at 16,50 (48 minutes + 1 lap). Race-2 will be run on the same length of 48 minutes + 1 lap on Sunday at 12.20. Both races will go live on Raisport 2 and web streaming at www.acisportitalia.it/GT.
