Zampieri-Altoè (Lamborghini Huracan) dominate race-1 of Vallelunga's 5th round of the Italian GT Championship

Antonelli Motorsport's pairing claimed an easy win leading the Ferrari driven by Fuoco-Cheever and the Audi of Baruch-Drudi. The GT3 title fight is still wide open Lotta as Gai, Zampieri-Altoè and Baruch are all within 4 points. In GT3 Light the victory went to Ceresoli-Tanaka, while the top step of the GT Cup podium went to Davide Di Benedetto.

Zampieri-Altoè (Lamborghini Huracan) won race-1 of Vallelunga’s 5th round of the Italian GT Championship proceeding the Ferrari 488 of Scuderia Baldini 27 driven by Fuoco-Cheever by 4’’177 and the Audi R8 LMS run by Audi Sport Italia for Baruch-Drudi by 14’’652. Ceresoli-Tanaka (Ferrari 458 Italia) won GT3 Light, while Davide Di Benedetto claimed the win in GT Cup and confirmed his place on top of the provisional standings on the Porsche 991 run by Island Motorsport. The title fight in GT3 is wide open as classification leader Stefano Gai is chased by Zampieri-Altoè that are 1 point adrift, and Baruch is 4 points shy of the lead. Gara-2 (56 minutes + 1 lap) is scheduled for tomorrow at 14 and will be broadcast live on TV by Raisport and the live streaming feed will be available at the Facebook page of the championship and at www.acisport.it/CIGT.

Race-1: An easy win for Daniel Zampieri and Giacomo Altoè was built in the two qualifying sessions that saw the two Antonelli Motorsport drivers claiming both pole positions. The 17 years old driver from Veneto did not have problems to take the lead and keep it until the pit stop leading Perera, Drudi, Gai, Cheever, Comandini and Fontana. Without any handicap time to serve, Zampieri started his stint in P1 with more 16s of advantage on Fuoco, who took over from Cheever. At the flag, Antonelli Motorsport’s pairing won leading Fuoco-Cheever, while a good fight was fought of P3 that saw Baruch-Drudi completing the podium. Following a good stint from the championship rookie Mattia Drudi, Baruch defended well P3 in the second part of the race, taking a good result for the championship. He engaged a good battle with Vito Postiglione and the fight between Imperiale Racing’s driver, who was fourth at the flag with co-equiper from France Perera, and Giancarlo Fisichella. The Former Formula 1 driver ended the race in P5 alongside Stefano Gai, who retained the classification lead by one point on the Antonelli Motorsport’s pairing.

The sixth place went to Comandini-Koebolt, on BMW M6 GT3 (BMW Team Italia), that proceeded Mancinelli-Fontana (Ferrari 488-Easy Race) and Vedel Veglia (Lamborghini Huracan-Antonelli Motorsport). Liang-Giammaria had tough luck and had to retire in the second stint due to a spectacular off by the driver from Rome following a misunderstanding with Veglia, and damaged the setup of the car.

Ceresoli-Tanaka were also present in Vallelunga at the wheel of the Ferrari 458 Italia and led GT3 Light, while GT Cup was won by Davide Di Benedetto on Porsche 991 run by Island Motorsport. The driver from Sicily is contesting alone the two races in Rome and is the current classification leader. He has always led the classification leaving his rivals to fight for P2, that eventually went to La Mazza-Nicolosi (Porsche 991-Ebimotors) at the end of a good battle with Pisani-Sauto, that was decided with seven laps to go by a good move by La Mazza on Sauto.
