A total of 37 crews are expected at the Mugello Circuit for the second round of the Italian GT Endurance Championship
After the debut race at Vallelunga, the number of entrants in the endurance series, which involves as many as 106 drivers, is increasing in Tuscany. The race will be broadcast live on Acisport TV (SKY 228) and streamed on the championship's website and social media channels.
The 22nd edition of the Italian Gran Turismo Championship is continuously growing. In the Endurance series, just like in the Sprint series, the number of entrants has increased for the second event scheduled for this weekend at the Mugello Circuit, which sees 37 cars and 106 drivers divided into the two classes, GT3 and GT Cup.
GT3: At Mugello, the favourites in the top class will again be the Ferrari drivers Fisichella-Leclerc-Mosca, who won the first race at Vallelunga with the 296 GT3. In the overall standings, the Scuderia Baldini crew leads by 9 points over Aka-Delli Guanti-Mazzola (Audi R8 LMS-Tresor Audi Sport Italia) and by 11 points over the BMW Itala-Ceccato Racing Team drivers, Comandini-Guerra-Denes (BMW M4 GT3).
All others are further behind, starting with the Lamborghini crews, Cazzaniga-Di Folco-Liberati, who, driving the Huracan GT3 Evo2 from VSR, will be joined by teammates Stadsbader-Fabi-Michelotto and Moulin-Tribaudini-Guidetti.
The contingent from the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory will be completed by the Huracans from Imperiale Racing, driven by Gvazava-Bowen-Fascicolo and Rogalski-Gilardoni-Deledda, and the two cars from Team Star Performance, driven by Pavlovic-Spengler-Sunporn and Mur-Lertlamplasertkul-Lommahadthai.
Tresor Audi Sport Italia’s colors will also be represented by the second crew of the Piedmont team, Moncini-Cola-Van Berlo, while the second BMW M4 GT3 will be entrusted to Cassarà-De Luca-Nilsson.
The Ferrari contingent, in addition to the provisional standings leaders, includes four other crews, among them Bracalente-Donno (AF Corse), Colavita-Riccitelli-Ulrich (Double TT Racing), leading the GT3 AM, and Ruberti-Haugen (Pellin Racing), all driving the 488 GT3 Evo 2020, while Ponzio-Gai-Mac will compete with the 296 from AF Corse.
Nova Race’s colors will be present at Mugello with two Honda NSX GT3s for Scarpetta-Jelmini-Berto and Magnoni-Ciglia-Massaro, and a Mercedes AMG GT3 entrusted to Marchetti-Ferri-Bodellini, while the second AMG entry will be that of Antonelli Motorsport with the crew Sandrucci-Ferrari-Bencivenni, leading the GT3 PRO-AM.
Rounding out the GT3 grid are the Porsche GT3 R of Fulgenzi-Galbiati (EF Racing) and the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of multi-time MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo, who will share the car from the L&A Infinity team with Finnish driver Alatalo and Indian driver Raghunathan.
GT CUP: In the 1st Division, reserved for Ferrari and Lamborghini, the Huracan ST Evo 2s from DL Racing stand out. In the PRO-AM, Vallelunga race winners Segù-Caiola will be joined by Andrea Fontana to defend their top spot from attacks by Demarchi-Patrinicola-Di Mare (Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo2-Best Lap), second in the Roman race. In the AM, Gattuso-Mainetti-Riva, winners of the Roman race, will face main rivals Bolger-Clementi Pisani-D’Auria (Lamborghini Huracan ST Evo2-HC Racing) and Marzialetti-Agoglia (Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo2-Best Lap), who will have Filippo Croccolino as their third driver in the Roman race.
New for the second round is the third DL Racing crew, Ibrahim-Di Fabio-Testa, and the seasonal debut of Reparto Corse RAM with a Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo2 for Daminato-Simoncini-Parisotto. Other Ferraris will be driven by La Mazza-Pierantoni-Bacci (Easy Race), Risitano-Schofield-Attianese (S&R Racing), while Lamborghini colors will be represented by Mendez-Anapoli-Barbolini (Invictus Corse), looking for redemption after the Vallelunga misfortune, and Lah-Kosic-Fondi (Lema Racing).
In the 2nd Division reserved for Porsches, there will be a head-to-head in the PRO-AM between the 992 GT3 Cup leaders, Berton-Laurini-Peroni (Racevent) and Cazzaniga-Di Benedetto-Nicolosi (Ebimotors), as well as in the AM, where season opener winners Buratti-Van der Sloot (EF Racing) will compete against Knez-Fontana (Centri Porsche Ticino).
Program and TV coverage: The Tuscan weekend will start on Friday with two 60-minute practice sessions (at 10:45 and 15:45), followed by the third session on Saturday morning (at 10:00). In the afternoon, from 16:40, there will be three 15-minute qualifying sessions to determine the starting grid for the 3-hour race scheduled for Sunday at 15:00. The race will be broadcast live on Acisport TV (SKY 228), with a delayed summary on Raisport on Thursday, July 18th at 15:15, and streamed live on the championship's website and social media platforms.
